Smudging Powder

Powders can be as effective as sticks and sometimes are easier to make. Acquire the same ingredients as above, and harvest them in the same careful and sacred way. Grind up the appropriate herbs with a coffee grinder or a mortar and pestle. This is a good way to use up the crumbling snippets off smudge sticks too! Here's a sample recipe used by a local healer:

1 tbsp sage

1 tsp lavender

1 tsp juniper

1 tsp uva-ursi

1 tsp copal

To use the mixture, pour it into a fireproof dish and pinch the top of it into a thin line. Light the line and the rest will burn evenly from the top down.
